For the fourth consecutive year, Vilnius University (VU) invites talented Ukrainians to apply for the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Scholarship – a financial support initiative created to ease the cost of living for students during their first year of studies.
This scholarship is part of VU’s ongoing commitment to support students from Ukraine, providing access to high-quality education in a welcoming, international environment that feels like home.
“When choosing a university, I looked for support for Ukrainian students, international rankings, and study programmes in English,” says Mariia Torianyk, a Global Marketing student at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration from Ukraine, who received the scholarship. “I was surprised to see that VU is among the top 3% of universities worldwide*. My decision to study here has been truly rewarding – the academic environment is excellent, and the student community is very diverse and friendly.”
Ukrainian students admitted to Bachelor’s, Integrated, or Master’s degree programmes at VU are eligible to apply. The scholarship provides monthly payments of €300 from September to June – a total of €3,000 per student. Up to 25 scholarships are awarded based on admission scores, motivation to study, and prior academic achievements.
Applications for both studies and the scholarship are accepted via the online admissions platform until 1 July, 23:59:59 (EET). Documents required for admission include:
“The application takes just five minutes,” says Anastasiia Perepolkina, a scholarship recipient and first-year student of Medicine at VU. “After you submit your application, you just need to wait for the decision. The main criterion for getting the scholarship is your admission score; if it’s 9.0 or higher, the possibility of getting the scholarship is very high.“
Becoming a student at Vilnius University means joining a vibrant community of more than 24,000 students, including over 2,300 international students from more than 90 countries. With more than 400 Ukrainian students currently enrolled, they represent one of the largest international groups at VU.
“What impressed me the most about VU was its practical, skill-oriented curriculum and the international atmosphere. It’s a great place to meet people from different cultures and grow both academically and personally,” Anastasiia adds.
Vilnius University offers 70+ English-taught degree programmes to choose from at its 15 faculties in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Šiauliai. Fourteen of these faculties offer full programmes in English.
